I’ve been a photographer since I was ten years old, a well meaning aunt bought me a camera as a Christmas gift and I’ve never stopped. Then in my free time, I turned professional twelve years ago, I’m a Licentiate with the Master Photographers Association and a Diploma Holder.
I work commercially and socially, my clients have included Pirelli Motor Sport, the Marriott Hotel Group, House of Fraser NPower and Cadbury’s. As a social photographer I shoot weddings and portraits throughout the season, I really enjoy working with people. I just love a satisfied client.
For ‘me time’ I turn to fine art photography, it requires the opposite mind set to the other forms with no dead lines or pressures. Giving regard to light, shape and form; planning the moment, taking the time to wait and the sense of achievement when it all comes together. I like that feeling of satisfaction. My pending direction is towards landscapes when they include the human form either by accident or intentionally. This adds such vitality and gives a sense of proportion to the image. My live art project gives clients the opportunity to feature in such images.
In the age of digital manipulation I avoid altering my pictures preferring to get the image right ‘in camera’. There is some dodging and burning as with printing in the dark room. But, in essence you see what I saw.
