Lucy's love of art began when she was a child. She loved whiling away the hours drawing and making things. As a young girl and teenager Lucy was always at my happiest when left with some drawing materials and paper! In fact, throughout her life Lucy has always been passionate about art, craft and design. Lucy has experimented with practically every medium, both in two and three dimensions from furniture painting, jewellery making, floristry and animation but her main passion lies with painting and drawing.
Lucy was born in Teeside but now lives in North Yorkshire. She studied Art and Design at Darlington College and from there attained her Degree at the University of Northumbria in Newcastle. Lucy has always followed a career in art and design and spent eight years as a lecturer, teaching students from 16 to 60 years of age. Throughout her years teaching art and design Lucy never stopped practicing her skills at painting and drawing and spent her holidays working on commissions for customers in the UK as well as overseas.
As head of a Graphic Design and Multimedia department at Cleveland College Of Art and Design Lucy carried out a challenging and rewarding role but still felt as though she was not on the right path. It was a big decision to leave her teaching career and start again but Lucy felt she had to follow her heart and try and realise her dreams of becoming an artist. So, after a year travelling the world and visiting wonderful countries such as Peru, Japan and New Zealand, as well as many more, Lucy then came back and began to work on her new career. With a renewed interest in art, inspired by the landscapes, seascapes, cities, colour and culture seen on her travels, Lucy has created various collections of art over recent years.
Working mainly with soft pastels Lucy loves creating colourful landscapes based on places and events, as well as emotions and experiences shared by many people.
Having exhibited at various art fairs and seeing her solo exhibitions become success stories, Lucy is an established local artist with an increasing national following and her work now sells in galleries all over the UK.
